New Year at WAHAHA 2

Students who was taking New Year Course did home-visit and experienced Japanese family’s New Year.

They went to stay at the family in Kitakyushu-shi, and did some sight-seeing and Sansha-mairi. Sansha-mairi is Fkuoka’s tradition for New Year. People visit three different shrines during New Year (Jan.1st to Jan.3rd).

During New Year many people go to shrine and wish for New Year. What did you guys wish for?!

At home-visit, they enjoyed Japanese traditional New Year food and many other food.  Also, they really enjoyed their company at home. Japanese New Year is like Western X’mas. Family get together, eat traditional food and drink sake. We don’t exchange presents, but kids get “otoshidama” from adults. Otoshidama is “New Year’s monetary gift”.

I am sure they really enjoyed their New Year experience!!
