Dontaku Festival 2011

On May 4th, we all went to Dontaku festival after the class.

Deontaku Festival is one of famous festivals in Fukuoka, Japan.

It started about 830years ago, and the name “Dontaku” is derived from the Dutch word “Zondag” meaning “Sunday” or “a holiday.”

Please see official Hakata Dontaku website or the Japan National Tourism Organization website for more info about Dontaku festival .

You could see many performances at several stages.

We were bit late, so saw a parade at main street in Tenjin and ate Yatai foods at central park.

It was fun to hang out with everybody and tried out some foods at Yatai (food stalls).
